Hi,
My name is Matt.
I am the creator and Director of Futures Mentoring Services. Below is a little bit about myself and why Futures Mentoring Services began.
I grew up on Kangaroo Island, so being outdoors in nature and experiencing firsthand what it has to offer is one reason I have begun my own Mentoring Service.
I started my employment journey at 15 in a pizza shop then jumped ship (pun intended) to a deck hand roll at 16, i have also experienced working on a crayfishing boat which was a big eye opener and wake up call to what Work and responsibility was about.
Moving to “the big smoke” known as Adelaide at 17 I had no idea what to expect and had to overcome quite a lot of anxieties with big crowds and figuring out how to get places I’d never been before with little to no supports, so I know I can be that support person to help others overcome those feelings of being overwhelmed within the community.
At 17 i became a Roof plumber which i stayed in this role for 11 years before I decided in 2017 to get into Mentoring. After 12months i decided to make the move to Residential Care where i stayed for another 6 years as a Youth Worker and 2 years as a Senior Youth worker. This is where I found my passion for being able to share my life experiences and teach those who wanted to learn about the outdoors and what it has to offer.
I found taking Clients out in nature and enjoying what our own back yards have to offer really benefited each and every person involved.
My personal hobbies outside of the house are, fishing/crabbing/yabbying, camping, cooking on coals, nature walks, Beach driving, riding my Harley, visiting different towns to try the local bakeries and so much more.
From my past experiences with clients getting outdoors and doing what I have mentioned above is that it's never disappointed, there were always happy stories to be told after and everyone would be eager to go back and have fun or do some more exploring.
I love a good gaming session, some Pokémon chit chat or even some time Zone fun action.
I could also sit for hours and watch some Anime like Pokémon/Dragon ball Z or even a good series marathon on my relax days.
I find that Selfcare doesn’t always have to be outdoors as its good to mix it up from time to time, variety, stability and consistency is key for healthy mental health.
I personally like to go to do my ice baths first thing most mornings to kick off my day doing something challenging before heading to the gym.
I decided to start Futures Mentoring services where myself and my Mentors specialise in a range of outdoor activities but also can support with social and community engagement and independent living skills, so if you think you or someone you know might enjoy or benefit what we have to offer, Click the contact button and make contact.
We are looking forward to hearing from you.
Please have a scroll down and meet Futures Mentors and see what we are all about.

Hi,
My name is Sebastian!
I have a passion for empowering young people and am mentor at Futures Mentoring Services since 2022.
I grew up in the Southern Suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia, and over my working career I have worn many hats.
From operating my own skate board company which sponsored many young people, to being a factory worker, and also running businesses overseas.
A consistent experience through much of my work is having a connection to youth and a passion to help, support and provide guidance in any area needed.
One of my strengths is my ability to build rapport with young people. Through listening, engaging, showing interest in them and by asking the right questions, we build trust in each other.
I have been mentoring young entrepreneurs by providing pathways to turn their hobbies, ideas and interests into real businesses. By helping build confidence, personal networks, and friendships with other likeminded young people in their communities.
I find it very rewarding and an amazing experience to participate in the growth of young people and empowering them to reach their dreams.
Some of the things I like to do in my spare time are;
Being outdoors (fishing, camping, outback adventures). I find we communicate better when we are away from the big cities and can listen to our inner selves and others more intently.
Playing computer games, watching a good Transformers movie, just hanging out and having fun.
Brainstorming, realising an idea into a plan. Dreaming and then doing!
Exercising and living a healthy lifestyle. I recently lost 30kg through good diet and regular low impact exercise.
I am a great believer in self-motivation and personal will power and am very dedicated to daily exercise and self-care. I am a strong believer in healthy body and healthy mind to create the very best version of myself that I can.
I would love to participate in your journey of growth to create the best version of you.

Hi,
My name is Kris.
I have lived in Adelaide my whole life and the last few years I have been living in the northern suburbs.
I started working in production and logistics roles but when I wanted to pursue a career my interest in mental health led me to study youth work.
Since then, I have spent a year working as a mentor, helping people to achieve their goals and I am really happy to have a job that I am enthusiastic and passionate about.
I like to get outdoors with clients and provide experiences that you would not normally do while at the same time working on communication skills, confidence and motivation building.
I am interested in tech, last year I bought a 3d printer and I am having a blast designing toys for my daughter.
I like to do DIY projects like renovating old furniture or building something useful from timber I have reclaimed. I like to get out for a long walk locally in the hills, like Mack creek trail which I enjoy

Hi I’m Liane,
I am a dedicated and passionate Youth Worker, an alternative thinker, a Granny and lover of all things yellow. I have been empowering young people to find their feet for over 15 years and still think it is the most rewarding job I have ever had. I have a solid history of case management and am always motivated to find new and innovative ways to help people achieve their goals and find what makes their heart sing.
I grew up in the Adelaide foothills after emigrating from the United Kingdom when I was just three years old. I had kids very early in life and so learned pretty quickly how to think on my feet and adapt to challenging situations. This has been fundamental in allowing me to understand different perspectives and motivated me to help others to overcome their challenges.
I moved out of home quite young to live and work on The River Murray teaching people to water ski and running a riverside shop and water ski business. From there I moved interstate, working in many different and diverse roles, from managing a farm to working in a pioneer settlement tourist park, until I returned to Adelaide as a single parent of three. I now reside in the Barossa Valley and am blessed with three beautiful grandkids who I adore and spend as much time with as possible. For the last seven years I have spent time caring for my elderly parents and feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to share some wonderful memories with them during their individual end of days.
My interest for upcycling and nature have inspired me to spend some of my free time outdoors, gardening and exploring new places but my real passion is for everything arty and enjoy how it can provide space for connection, mindfulness and deeper conversations. The creativity process and its ability to improve physical, mental and emotional well-being has recently motivated me to begin my studies in Art Therapy which can help individuals to increase communication skills, express feelings that are difficult to verbalise, improve self-esteem and confidence and provide the ability to share information in a safe and nurturing environment. I am also in the process of completing a Certificate IV in Mental Health to freshen and broaden my skill set after being absent from the sector whilst caring for my parents. I am eager to re enter the youth sector and get back to doing what I love – seeing young people shine 😊

Hi, my name is Dion!
I live life with the attitude of giving everything a go, and this one way I lead by example with my clients. I have a background in child protection and community services, and my first job as a youth worker sparked a passion within me to help young people build towards their vision of success.
I have also supported adult clients to manage chronic and acute physical health conditions through in-home support such as cooking, gardening and cleaning.
In my spare time, I am an avid sports fan. As a player and coach, I enjoy a variety of sports including tennis, squash, athletics, AFL and netball. I believe in the value of sport to build resilience, make friends and promote a healthy lifestyle. I also love to travel and experience the great outdoors. I view time spent in nature as a way to explore ourselves without the interference of modern life, and I love to share this passion with my clients.
I hope to support you in achieving your ambitions, wherever you are on your journey through life.
